Charles Johnson, 86, of Grand Rivers passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Parkview Rehabilitation Center in Paducah.
Mr. Johnson was retired from the Coal Industry. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonial, and member of the Livingston County School Board for 28 years. He served as chairman of the School Board for 8 years. He was also the regional director for KSBA, and a veteran of the U.S. Army whom served in the Korean War.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Betty Johnson of Grand Rivers; two sons, Jeff (Patti) Johnson, Perry (Phyllis) Johnson both of Grand Rivers; one daughter, Robin (James) Dickerson of Grand Rivers; seven grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Lagan Croft, Whitney Slayden, Derek Johnson, Dakota Dickerson, Jourdan Dickerson, Jada O’Leary; and two great-grandchildren, Gage Johnson and Grayson Johnson
He was preceded in death by his parents, William R. Johnson and Marjorie Johnson; and three brothers, David Johnson, Harry L. Johnson, and Marvin Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Smith Funeral Chapel with the Revs. C.C. Brasher and Darvin Stom officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
