Donald Buddy McDowell, 76, of Smithland died Sunday at Lourdes hospital.
Mr. McDowell was a coal miner with Peabody Coal Company.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie McDowell; three sons, Don McDowell of Terlingua, Texas, Allan McDowell of Dixon and Mike McDowell of Providence; one daughter, Melinda Thomason of Smithland; two brothers, Joe McDowell of Madisonville and Paul McDowell of Providence; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Diana Lynn McDowell, and one brother. His parents were Willard and Jesse McDowell.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland.
