Imogene Dunlap, 100, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at her residence.
She was born in Livingston County, Iuka, KY to Harry D. and Ada L. (Sexton) Perkins on September 11, 1909. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking.
Imogene received a teaching certificate from Murray State College in Kentucky. She taught school for Livingston County for five years.
She was an active member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Detroit, MI and attended Long Ridge Baptist Church in Owen County where she enjoyed teaching bible school. She belonged to the Owen County, KY Homemakers Extension Club.
Survivors include, three children, Lynn Swanagan of Millington, MI, Laura E. (Douglas) Hubbell of Evansville, IN, Lloyd W. (Beth) Dunlap of Elmhurst, IL; one sister, Pat Brumback Twedt of Owenton, KY; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Dunlap; two sisters, Bernice Grubbs and Ardelle Traylor; four brothers, Joe, John, Keith and David Perkins.
Rev. James D. Castleman will conduct a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Smith Funeral Chapel, 319 E. Adair St., Smithland, KY. Friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, 197 E. Jefferson St., Franklin, IN and Thursday from noon until time of service at Smith Funeral Chapel in Kentucky. The family wishes to thank the following the people for their loving care and support during her 11 years in Franklin: Gena Swanagan Frazer, Steve Frazer, Melissa Ferry, the staff of Vista Care, Dr. Jefferson Qualls and Dr. Mary Lou Mayer.
