Imogene “Imie” Hopkins Martin, 84, of Smithland, KY passed away on Thursday morning, March 24, 2016 at Livingston County Hospital.
She was a faithful member of Smithland First Baptist Church. She worked for the United States Postal Service for 25 years with 12 of those serving as postmaster of Smithland. She was also a past member of the American Red Cross.
Meemee looked forward to cooking Sunday dinner and spending time with her family after church each week.
She is survived by one daughter, Jenny Martin-Scott; one son, Kenny Martin and wife Rhonda; two granddaughters, Ashley Scott-Wilson and Lydia Martin; two great-granddaughters, Adrienne and Ally Wilson; one great-grandson, Cameron Wilson; one brother, J.L. Culver and wife Parthie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Melvin “Bubbie” Martin; an infant daughter, Melva Gale; her parents, Frank Hopkins and Aggie Ryan Hopkins Culver; her stepfather, Lowell Culver; four sisters; and three brothers.
Friends may call on Sunday, March 27, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Smith Funeral Chapel and from 12:00pm to service hour on Monday at the church.
Funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Smithland First Baptist Church with the Revs. Shawn Vandergriff, Wayne Carter, and Andrew Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Smithland Cemetery.
