James Hurley

November 13, 1946 — June 28, 2014

Biography

On June 25, 2014 at 4:39pm, James Norbin Hurley, 67, passed over to the Promised Land to be with his Lord.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 26 years, Barbara; three sons, SMSgt. Jason Hurley (Sarah) of Scott AFB in Illinois, SFC Scott Hurley (Julie) of Fort Drum Army Base in New York, Jeffrey P’Poole (Barbara) of Kuttawa, and one daughter, Sheila Stone (Steve Revelett) of Grand Rivers.

Mr. Hurley was blessed to be the grandfather to twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by one sister, Nola Bryan of Paducah and one brother, Eldred Hurley (Shirley) also of Paducah.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ragon and Naomi Hurley and one granddaughter, Holly Childress.

Mr. Hurley was a retired Captain from the Kentucky Department of Corrections with 27 years of service.

He also was an Army Veteran who enjoyed trout fishing, rabbit hunting, and yearly trips to Branson, MO.

He was a well-loved faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church in Smithland.

He loved his Lord, his family, and friends. He loved to share stories and “never met a stranger.”

He will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be at 1pm Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Smith Funeral Chapel with Bro, Darvin Stom and Bro C.C. Brasher officiating. Burial will follow at McMurray Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, June 27, 2014 after 5pm at the funeral home.
