GRAND RIVERS - Lena Wave Wilson of Grand Rivers, Kentucky passed away at 5:45 P.M. Wednesday, May 7, 2014. She was 86.
Mrs. Wilson taught elementary school briefly before marrying. She worked as an election officer for sixty years and was active in the Kentucky Democrat Women's organization and served in her community as a 4-H leader, volunteer for the American Red Cross and for many years was an active member of Kentucky Farm Bureau. She was baptized and became a member of the Iuka Missionary Baptist Church at age 12. Beginning as a teenager and continuing until her death, she taught Sunday school there.
She is survived by her sons, Marvin Lee Wilson and his wife Laura, Jim Wilson and his wife Marinia; three grandchildren, Dailey E. Wilson, Allen Orien Wilson and his wife Amelia, and Lee F. Wilson; her brother, Jimmy Robertson and his wife Nellie Jean; sisters-in-law, Gola Ramey Robertson and Jane Schoborg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.O. Wilson Jr.; a son, Roudell Orien Wilson III; her parents, Marvin and Angie Robertson; and two brothers, Whitney Robertson and Marvin Thomas Robertson.
Visitation will be Friday, May 9, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland.
Services will be at the Iuka Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, May 10, at 2:00 P.M. with visitation at the church from noon until the funeral hour.
