Rev. Allen A. Jones, 91 of Smithland, Kentucky passed away at 7:32 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
Allen was born January 4, 1929 the son of Harry O. Jones Sr. and Lena Lorene (Scarbrough) Jones. He married Theah L. Potter August 5, 1950. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in communications with the 25th Infantry Division of Tropic Lightening.
He opened Allen Jones TV Sales and Service in Lake City, Kentucky in 1963. He continued to service electronics over the next thirty-five years as a part time job and hobby.
In 1962 he surrendered to preach taking a part time position at Hampton Baptist Church. In 1966 he went into full time ministry at New Salem Baptist Church in Nortonville, Kentucky. He later pastored Ohio Valley Baptist Church, Repton Baptist Church and retired from Tiline Baptist Church. In 2012 he was recognized by Ohio River Baptist Association and Kentucky Baptist Association for fifty years in ministry. Throughout his life he continued his love for working on electronics.
Allen is survived by his wife of 69 years Theah L Potter Jones, son, Doug (Debbie) Jones, Calvert City, KY, daughter, Amelia (Buddy) Ramage. One brother, Howard Maxwell Jones of Coco, Florida. And one sister, Linda (Freddy) Ladd of Burna, Ky. Grandchildren Joshua Jones, Calvert City, KY Kim (Ben) Jernigan, Benton, KY, Chase Ramage, Richmond, KY, Colton (Hannah) Ramage, Smithland, KY. One great granddaughter, Scarlett Jernigan, Benton, KY
He was proceeded in death by his daughter, Sondra Althea Jones, parents Harry O. and Lena Lorene Scarbrough Jones Sr. Sisters, Earlene Jones Hart, Barbara Jones Mix, brother and sister in law Harry O and Patsy Jones Jr. Mother and father in law Herschel and Lida Robertson Potter, sister in law Lucille Champion.
Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Danny Starrick officiating. Burial will follow at Iuka Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family from 11:00am to service hour on Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations maybe made in his honor to Scarlett Jernigan HLH Fund in care of Southside Regions Bank at: 411 Clarks River Rd. 42003 or in person.
Scarlett & “Pepaw” shared a very special bond. She always brought a smile to his face whether it be a visit or facetime call.
