Virgie Benak

Virgie Coreen Benak, 89, of Smithland, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020 at Baptist Health in Paducah.

Virgie was a waitress and loved to be in the kitchen cooking. She was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church and enjoyed spending time with her church family.

Virgie is survived by two sons, David (Dianne) Shadle and Thomas Allen (Regina) Shadle; six siblings, George Buford Jr., Marvin Buford, Claire Quetermous, Peggy Monroe, Betty Hale, and Martha Burroughs; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, and several other loved ones.

Preceding Virgie in death is her husband, Michael Benak; her parents, George Sr. and Helen Buford; three brothers, Thomas Buford, Gene Buford, and Dale Buford; and three sisters, Dorothy Lawless, Mary Anglie, and Norma Jean Buford.

A graveside service will be held Monday, August 31, 2020 at 11:00 am for Virgie at Cothran Cemetery with Sister Judy Warren officiating.

Smith Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
